Our The Peasant Prince’s Dream Job Application resource is based on the picture book, The Peasant Prince by Li Cunxin and provides students with the opportunity to infer what the main character might include in an application for his dream job as principal dancer of The Australian Ballet!

To cater for the various needs of students in your class, we have included three versions of this resource, all of which require students to write from the perspective of the main character.

• Version 1 requires students to provide short responses to several questions.
• Version 2 requires students to provide detailed responses to three questions.
• Version 3 requires students to compose a detailed and persuasive response to a question in the form of a letter.

Your students might be interested to know that in 1995, Li actually did become a principal dancer at The Australian Ballet! From 2012 to 2023, he was the artistic director of the Queensland Ballet.
