Our The Peasant Prince’s Precious People resource is based on the picture book, The Peasant Prince by Li Cunxin and provides students with the opportunity to reflect upon which characters had the greatest impact on the main character’s life.

Students will draw a picture of the people who were important to Li, the main character, and write a description explaining their choice on a photo album template. Suggested character choices include:

• From Qingdao: Li’s mother, Li’s father, Li’s brothers and Teacher Song
• From Beijing and beyond: The Bandit, Teacher Xiao and Ben the ballet master

We have included three versions of this resource:

• Version 1 includes space to draw and write about the important people from Li’s life in Qingdao, Beijing and beyond.
• Version 2 includes space to draw and write about the important people from Li’s life and the important people in the student’s own life.
• Version 3 is a blank template that can be used with a text of your choice and includes space to draw and write about the important people from the main character’s life and the important people in the student’s own life.
