Description
This purposeful and editable back to school activity has been designed to accompany a whole class reading of the picture book The Pigeon Has to Go to School by Mo Willems. These no-prep worksheets will challenge your students to identify, order and represent the letters of the alphabet.
This set of worksheets provide the opportunity for students to develop lower and upper case letter recognition and formation skills. To suit the needs of your class, we have included ready-to-print and editable options, including:
- Students cut and glue the letters of the alphabet in order (includes lower and upper case letters).
- Students trace the letters of the alphabet in order (includes lower and upper case letters).
- Students write the letters of the alphabet in order.
If completing the letter tracing or writing worksheets, we recommend ensuring that students are using the correct pencil grip and are aware of how to correctly form each letter. Tracing letters is a fine motor activity that allows students to practise letter formation whilst holding a pencil correctly. This helps to strengthen the small muscles in their fingers and hands. Additionally, tracing letters requires children to demonstrate focus and control as they follow the lines to form letters.
This task is perfect for independent work, a small group task, scribing, evidence for assessment or for a relief folder! Please note that our editable template will enable you to include a font of your choice. When printing, consider if your students would benefit from having the resource enlarged to A3 size
This resource is available in our basic fun font, and all Australian state fonts as well as an editable version.
