This hands-on resource has been crafted to help your students solidify their understanding of comparative (-er) and superlative (-est) adjectives, including how they help us to express likes, dislikes and preferences!

Students will create an adorable turtle decorated with assorted materials that represent a set of adjectives. For example, if the adjectives are ‘bright, brighter, brightest,’ each part of the turtle should mirror these gradations.

This activity requires students to demonstrate their understanding of the adjectives, allows them to practise sorting and encourages creativity! While we've suggested a variety of craft materials in the instructions, feel free to use any materials available. Using items found in nature could also be a wonderful addition! Students can glue their completed craft to the backing page provided.

We have included multiple template options to suit the needs of your class:

1. Individual pieces to be cut by an adult (perfect for students working in small group rotations)
2. Individual pieces to be cut by the student (perfect for students who can work independently)
3. Pre-assembled worksheet style (ideal for a fast-paced classroom!)

Top Teacher Tips!

1. Enlarge the templates to A3 for younger students.
2. Print on coloured cardstock (shades of green are ideal).
3. If printing on white cardstock, have students add colour to the turtle with paint, edicol dye or crayon!
