Description
Students practise cross-multiplying fractions to be able to add them together.
This instructional worksheet guides students through the steps to add unrelated fractions. Students will cross-multiply the fractions needing to be added to create equivalent fractions with the same denominator.
The first section has students identify the numbers needing to be cross-multiplied, and the second has them complete the full process when given two unrelated fractions.
Why not step through the instructions together first as a class before setting the worksheet as an independent task to consolidate learning?
Print one page per student, or if working in small groups, place a few sheets into write-and-wipe sleeves and reuse them for each group of students. Answer pages are included to help with marking.Additional information
