Do your students need to expand their vocabulary? Are you bored of reading bland, dull writing? Our Vocabulary Match is perfect for students who are learning to expand their vocabulary and use more engaging adjectives in their everyday language and writing.

The aim of the game is to match the adjectives featured on the vocabulary cards with the corresponding picture. Students will need a game board each. They will flip a colour-coded game card, read the collection of adjectives and determine which picture matches. The card can be placed over the image to indicate a match (or use counters).

To extend the task further, have students come up with their own lists of adjectives to describe each image. Alternatively, the cards can be used as prompts for a descriptive writing piece. We recommend explicitly teaching the meanings of the words to your students. The more students say and use the words, the more likely they are to remember them and use them in their everyday language!
