Description

Students answer questions correctly to collect treasure from the bottom of the ocean floor. Each piece of treasure is worth a different number of points, and the winner is the player with the highest score at the end of the game!

This version of the game supports early number learning by focusing on the concept of finding one more. Students are shown a number between 0 and 19 and must identify the number that comes next. It’s a fun and foundational way to build number sense while keeping learners motivated through gameplay.

With each correct answer, students collect a treasure item with a point value. If they answer incorrectly, their treasure sinks back into the sea. The game continues until all questions are answered, and the student with the most treasure points wins!

Key Learning Outcomes:

  • ✅ Identify the number that is one more than a given number (up to 20)
  • ✅ Strengthen number recognition and sequencing
  • ✅ Develop fluency with early counting strategies
  • ✅ Engage with maths in a fun and meaningful context
  • ✅ Build confidence through repeated practise in a game format

How to Play:

  1. Students are shown a number between 0 and 19.
  2. They choose the number that is one more than the number shown.
  3. Each correct answer earns them a treasure item worth points.
  4. Incorrect answers result in losing that treasure back to the ocean.
  5. The game continues until all questions are completed, and the player with the highest point total wins.
