Help students practise hearing the short vowel sound in CVC words.

This resource comes with 59 CVC picture cards. It includes a vowel strip to put pegs/counters on and a recording sheet/graph to record the middle sound of the words.

Laminate the vowel strip and get students to pull a card out or show them a card. They need to listen to the short vowel sound and place either a counter or put a peg onto that sound. Students can then record the sound on their graphing sheet by colouring in a square for that sound or using a bingo dauber.

Give all students a vowel strip during mat sessions and complete as a whole group or use in small group activities during your literacy session/rotations.
