Are you looking for a fun and hands-on way for your students to identify missing numbers? Our What’s Missing? task cards are just what you need! This resource is perfect for students learning to recognise, represent and order numbers to 120 on a number line.
Students will select a task card, read the numbers on the number line and identify the missing number. Once they have identified the missing number, they will clip it with a peg. This resource includes:
- Detailed instructions
- 24 task cards (in high colour and low colour options)
- Optional recording sheets (students can either colour the missing numbers or write them in the blank spaces).
If completing the recording sheet where students write the missing numbers, we recommend enlarging the template to A3. Printing the task cards on thick card will improve their durability. In addition to the printable resources, students require access to pegs to clip the missing number on each card. The action of clipping a peg to a task card helps to improve students’ fine motor skills, specifically strengthening the small muscles in their hands, fingers and thumbs and their bilateral and hand-eye coordination skills.
This low prep activity will be a great addition to a lesson, a part of a numeracy rotation, to collect evidence for assessment, used as morning work or stored away in a relief folder.
