This purposeful back to school activity has been designed to accompany a whole class reading of the engaging picture book Guess What We Are Doing Today? by Mr Luke. These no-prep worksheets provide the opportunity for your students to draw a response to the fantastical and imaginative adventures the students in the book think they will get to experience at school.

This resource includes ten prompts that will inspire your students to imagine where they might go. The prompts can be used with any of the three worksheets included within the download. We recommend printing the prompts on coloured paper, allowing them to pop on the page. Enlarging to the templates to A3 size may be beneficial for students who require additional drawing and writing space.

This resource provides the opportunity for students to consider and discuss the fun activities they can expect to experience throughout a school year. Students will be given the opportunity to demonstrate their creative and interpretive skills as they bring their prompt to life on the page. This resource would be a fantastic activity to complete at the beginning of the school year, but it could easily be used at any point.

This activity could be completed with crayons or pencils, or students could be given the opportunity to paint their interpretation of the prompt. Alternatively, students could use craft materials such as feathers, pom poms, tissue paper, scrap paper, magazine clippings and any other suitable material to create an abstract interpretation of the prompt.

Top Teacher Tip: attach the completed worksheets to a coloured piece of backing paper to create an engaging classroom display. This could be used to encourage reading or to share the power of books.
