Description

Blast off into outer space and explore distant galaxies in this fun and colourful digital game all about counting and comparing. With every correct answer, students warp to a new galaxy and collect a cosmic object that earns them a space badge to track their progress.

In this version of Let’s Explore, students will view two images of sticker collections and identify which one has fewer stickers. This supports early number sense by developing comparison skills, visual discrimination, and counting strategies. The visuals are engaging, and the gameplay helps reinforce key mathematical language such as “more,” “less,” and “fewer.”

Who will earn the most badges and become a space explorer pro?

Key Learning Outcomes:

  • ✅ Identify which collection has fewer objects
  • ✅ Strengthen one-to-one correspondence and counting accuracy
  • ✅ Use mathematical language to describe and compare quantities
  • ✅ Develop early reasoning and observation skills
  • ✅ Engage in interactive, visual learning through game-based play

How to Play:

  1. Students are shown two sticker collections and asked to decide which has fewer stickers.
  2. They select the correct option from the two choices provided.
  3. A correct answer earns a space object and unlocks the next galaxy.
  4. Each collected object adds to their space badge tally.
  5. At the end, students see all the badges they’ve earned across their journey.

Ideas for Classroom Use:

  • 💡 Use during Early Years–Year 1 numeracy units on counting and comparing
  • 💡 Great for maths rotations or early finisher activities with visual prompts
  • 💡 Pair with concrete materials (e.g. sticker cards or counters) to extend comparison tasks
  • 💡 Encourage mathematical talk by asking students to explain how they knew which had less

Top Teacher Tips:

  • 💛 Let students personalise their experience by choosing from six characters before the game begins
  • 💛 Select the number of players or teams at the start of the game to suit individual, paired, or group play
  • 💛 Send the QR code home for students to play as a homework or revision task

Let’s Explore – Which Has Less? Counting & Comparing Stickers helps build strong number foundations while taking students on a space-themed journey full of comparisons, counting, and confidence!
