Description

After reading the story ‘Who Saw Turtle’ by Ros Moriarty, use our guide and templates to assist your students in creating their own turtle artwork. This activity can be completed in a range of ways, so it can be as quick or involved as you have time for! Students follow the directions and draw their turtle directly onto the template; we suggest enlarging to A3 so they have more space to work in. Alternatively, you may like to have your students complete their drawing on a larger piece of card and then glue it on the heading and writing template. This resource includes:
  • Step-by-step guide for directing a turtle drawing.
  • Template to work directly on (in 3 levels of ability).
  • Heading and writing templates to add to the artwork.
  • Images of Sea Turtles to be used as inspiration.
This is a great activity to complete during NAIDOC Week.Top Teacher Tip: To create an effective ocean-looking background, paint the backing paper with edicol dye. Whilst it is still wet, sprinkle salt on top and wait for it to dry before brushing it away.
