Description

Complete different tasks at the farm with every correct answer, from planting seeds to growing and collecting fruit, fixing tractors and mending fences. A farmer’s work is never done!

This version helps students build their early vocabulary skills by identifying words related to the topic of families. Whether it’s recognising words like mum, dad, sister or baby, students will practise selecting topic-specific vocabulary while progressing through a series of engaging farm tasks.

Each correct response helps move the farm work along—whether it’s feeding animals or harvesting crops. At the end of the game, students are shown a summary of everything they’ve completed on the farm during their day of learning and working hard!

Key Learning Outcomes:

  • ✅ Recognise and identify key vocabulary related to the topic of families
  • ✅ Develop language comprehension and word knowledge
  • ✅ Strengthen early reading and topic connection skills
  • ✅ Engage in meaningful language practise through interactive play
  • ✅ Build confidence using familiar words in a thematic setting

How to Play:

  1. Students are presented with a word and asked to decide if it relates to the topic of families.
  2. Correct answers allow them to complete part of a farm task such as planting, growing or harvesting.
  3. Some farm jobs require multiple steps to complete, keeping students engaged and focused.
  4. Incorrect answers do not progress the task, but the game continues to the next question.
  5. At the end, students see a wrap-up screen showing all the jobs they’ve completed on the farm.

Ideas for Classroom Use:

  • 💡 Use during HASS or early language blocks as an introduction to the family unit
  • 💡 Great for Early Years–Year 1 students learning to categorise topic-specific words
  • 💡 Pair with classroom discussions, picture books or family drawings before gameplay
  • 💡 Replay the game throughout the unit to reinforce vocabulary understanding

Top Teacher Tips:

  • 💛 Let students personalise their experience by choosing from six characters before the game begins
  • 💛 Select solo or team play to suit different classroom routines and group sizes
  • 💛 Send the QR code home so students can practise identifying family vocabulary outside of class

Let’s Farm – Family Vocabulary supports language development in a playful and purposeful way, turning word recognition into hands-on learning at the farm!
