This activity is the perfect way to consolidate and assess student understanding of how to include quoted speech when writing a narrative.
Students plan and write a short narrative using 3-4 lines of quoted speech throughout. They must plan their characters, setting and plot, considering where to use their quoted speech to support the narrative.
Three differentiated versions of the planning page are included, with gradually decreasing scaffolding throughout to support learners of all levels. Once their planning is complete, students can use the matching writing template to complete their final copy. We’ve even included a blank matching lined page for your extension writers to use to continue their texts past one page.
These templates make for great open night displays, especially paired with our Quoted & Reported Speech Posters.
