Chemical science is such a fun topic to teach. There are so many opportunities for students to use their senses as they interact with materials in a fun and investigative way.

This invites students to go for a hunt around the classroom for objects. When they have an object, they come back to the mat and as a class each student can add their object to the correct material.

Each material is displayed on a fun and colourful magnifying glass which students can group their items around.

These magnifying glasses could also be used as a display during a materials unit.
