Description

The Interpret, Compare & Represent Decimals: Tenths, Hundredths & Thousandths Assessment is designed to evaluate students’ knowledge and application of decimal place value concepts. This includes interpreting, comparing, ordering, rounding, and representing decimal numbers across various formats. Students will demonstrate their fluency and reasoning with numbers that include more than two decimal places, while also showing how they apply this understanding in real-world contexts such as money, measurement, and scientific data.

This comprehensive assessment task gives students the opportunity to apply a wide range of skills including identifying decimal place values, writing decimals in expanded form, using inequality symbols for comparisons, rounding to different place values, and representing decimals on a number line. It is particularly useful as a summative assessment at the conclusion of your decimals unit.

Also included is a detailed marking rubric to assist with clear, consistent evaluation. A blank version is provided so you can customise it to suit your classroom expectations or use it as a student self-assessment tool. This resource encourages both accuracy and explanation, making it ideal for assessing deeper understanding and mathematical reasoning.
