Description

Can you use your knowledge of grid coordinate systems to find the Queen’s treasure?

Use these worksheets to practise identifying grid coordinates and using them to create and describe pathways. Three differentiated worksheets are included for you to choose from:

  1. As a knight, locate the given treasures on the map, then describe the route you will take to retrieve them.
  2. As a knight, place the treasures on the map, then swap sheets with a partner to locate their treasures and describe a route to take to retrieve them.
  3. As a thief, you have stolen the treasures and scattered them throughout the land! Write a route for a partner to take to locate each of the four treasures, then swap sheets and use their path to find where they have hidden the treasures.

Increase the difficulty of the challenge by having students add barriers and other avoidable dangers to their maps.

Print in A3 to complete this activity in pairs or small groups.
